چکیده
We study the corresponding scattering problem for Zakharov and Shabat compatible differential equations in two-dimensions, the representation for a solution of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation is formulated as a variational problem in two-dimensions. We extend the derivation to the variational principle for the Zakharov and Shabat equations in one-dimension. We also developed an approximate analytical technique for finding discrete eigenvalues of the complex spectral parameters in Zakharov and Shabat equations for a given pulse-shaped potential, which is equivalent to the physically important problem of finding the soliton content of the given initial pulse. Using a trial function in a rectangular box we find the functional integral. The general case for the two box potential can be obtained on the basis of a different ansatz where we approximate the Jost function by polynomials of order n instead of a piecewise linear function. We also demonstrated that the simplest version of the variational approximation, based on trial functions with one, two and n-free parameters respectively, and treated analytically. 2012 Elsevier Inc. An Efficient Numerical Inverse Scattering Algorithm for Generalized Zakharov-Shabat Equations with Two Potential Functions
The inverse scattering problem for coupled wave equations has various applications such as waveguide filter design and electric transmission line fault diagnosis. In this paper, an efficient numerical algorithm is presented for solving the inverse scattering problem related to generalized Zakharov-Shabat equations with two potential functions. Inspired by the work of Xiao and Yashiro on Zakharo...
متن کاملMarchenko Equations and Norming Constants of the Matrix Zakharov–shabat System
In this article we derive the Marchenko integral equations for solving the inverse scattering problem for the matrix Zakharov-Shabat system with a potential without symmetry properties and having L1 entries under a technical hypothesis preventing the accumulation of discrete eigenvalues on the continuous spectrum. Wederive additional symmetry properties in the focusing case. The norming constan...
متن کاملTime-evolution-proof Scattering Data for the Focusing and Defocusing Zakharov-Shabat Systems
Nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equations have attracted the attention of the physical and mathematical community for over four decades. NLS equations arise in such diverse fields as deep water waves [4, 25], plasma physics [24], fiber optics [11], and Bose-Einstein condensation [17]. The basic method for solving the NLS initial-value problem is the inverse scattering transform (IST) method [2–4, 6...
متن کاملAn Efficient Inverse Scattering Algorithm and Its Application to Lossy Electric Trans- Mission Line Synthesis
As studied by Jaulent in 1982, the inverse problem of lossy electric transmission lines is closely related to the inverse scattering of Zakharov-Shabat equations with two potential functions. Focusing on the numerical solution of this inverse scattering problem, we develop a fast one-shot algorithm based on the Gelfand-LevitanMarchenko equations and on some differential equations derived from t...
متن کامل$(varphi_1, varphi_2)$-variational principle
In this paper we prove that if $X $ is a Banach space, then for every lower semi-continuous bounded below function $f, $ there exists a $left(varphi_1, varphi_2right)$-convex function $g, $ with arbitrarily small norm, such that $f + g $ attains its strong minimum on $X. $ This result extends some of the well-known varitional principles as that of Ekeland [On the variational principle, J. Ma...
